Living With Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Clinical Trials in Michigan May Be an Option!
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a rare, often debilitating pain condition that can develop after an injury to a limb, such as a fracture, sprain, or surgery, even when the original injury was minor. CRPS causes pain that feels disproportionate to the injury itself and is often accompanied by changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected arm, hand, leg, ankle, or foot. CRPS-1 was previously known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a term some patients and doctors still use today.
CRPS most often affects a single limb and can involve heightened sensitivity to touch, swelling, changes in skin temperature or color, and, in some cases, stiffness or difficulty moving the affected area. While some symptoms may ease over time, CRPS can become a long-term condition without early diagnosis and care.
If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 1 (CRPS-1), Revival Research Institute is conducting a clinical trial exploring an investigational treatment for this condition.
Are You Eligible to Participate?
To qualify for the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Clinical Trials, participants must:
- Be male or female, 18 years or older
- Have been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 1 (CRPS-1) within the last 6 months
- Have moderate to severe pain in the affected limb, along with swelling, redness, or a noticeable temperature difference compared to the unaffected limb
*Additional criteria may apply.
Participation in the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Clinical Trials is free of cost. To learn more or enroll, fill out the form. A member of our research team will contact you to discuss your potential eligibility for the study.

About Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Clinical Trials
Living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) can affect nearly every part of daily life. The intense, ongoing pain, along with visible changes in the affected limb, can make routine tasks like dressing, walking, or sleeping far more difficult.
Revival Research Institute is conducting CRPS clinical trials for individuals recently diagnosed with CRPS-1 who are experiencing signs of inflammation in the affected limb, such as swelling, redness, or warmth. This study is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational treatment, which may help improve pain and other symptoms associated with CRPS.
Clinical trials will be conducted at multiple locations across the United States, including Michigan. To qualify, participants must complete a screening process and comply with all study procedures. Those who meet eligibility criteria and are selected for the study will receive either investigational treatment or a placebo.
All study-related procedures and treatments—including the study treatments—are provided at no cost. No insurance is required to participate, and eligible participants may receive compensation for time and travel.
To take the next step, complete the form above. A member from our research team will contact you to determine if you qualify. A brief discussion about your health and medical history may be required.

What to Expect?
If you are living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, you may qualify for a clinical trial exploring new treatment options. After completing the interest form above, a member of our research team will contact you for a brief pre-screening to determine if you meet the initial eligibility criteria.
If you qualify, you’ll be asked to review and sign an Informed Consent Form (ICF), which outlines all study procedures, potential benefits, and possible risks. Once consent is given, you will be invited to one of Revival’s research sites for a screening visit. During this visit, we will review your medical history, conduct physical exams, and perform lab tests to further assess your eligibility. If you meet all study requirements, you will be officially enrolled in the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Clinical Trial.
Our team is committed to ensuring you fully understand your role in the study and what to expect throughout. Please feel free to ask any questions before deciding to participate. Your involvement helps advance future treatment options for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome:
A Complex, Often Misunderstood Condition

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that most often develops after an injury to an arm or leg, though the pain experienced is typically far greater than what would be expected from the injury itself. CRPS is classified into two types: CRPS-1, which occurs without a confirmed nerve injury and accounts for up to 90% of cases, and CRPS-2, which is associated with a confirmed nerve injury.
For some individuals with CRPS-1, the affected limb shows visible signs of inflammation, such as warmth, redness, and swelling, sometimes referred to as the “warm subtype.” This subtype may also involve changes to bone metabolism in the affected limb, which is why some individuals are asked to undergo a specialized imaging scan (a triple phase bone scan) as part of the screening process.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome May Develop After:
- A fracture or broken bone
- Surgery involving a limb
- A sprain, strain, or soft tissue injury
- Prolonged immobilization, such as being in a cast
- In some cases, no clearly identifiable injury
Common Symptoms of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Include:
- Pain that feels disproportionate to the original injury
- Swelling in the affected limb
- Changes in skin color or temperature compared to the unaffected limb
- Increased sensitivity to touch or temperature
- Stiffness or difficulty moving the affected limb

What is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that typically develops after an injury to an arm or leg. It causes pain that is disproportionate to the original injury, along with changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected limb.
What is the treatment for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
There is currently no medication approved by the FDA specifically for CRPS. Management often involves a combination of physical therapy, pain management strategies, and other supportive care.
At Revival Research Institute, we’re conducting a clinical trial to explore whether an investigational treatment may help improve pain and other symptoms associated with CRPS-1.
What causes Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
CRPS most often develops after an injury to a limb, such as a fracture, sprain, or surgery, although the exact cause is not fully understood. Researchers believe that changes in the nervous and immune systems may contribute to the condition.
What is the cost of participating in a research study?
There’s no cost to participating in our Complex Regional Pain Syndrome clinical trials, as we cover all the expenses ourselves, including travel and participation costs.
